Growing up, I had many future aspirations in mind, and photography wasn’t part of that. I have a first degree in marketing from the prestigious Central University College of Accra, Ghana. After my National service at coca-cola Ghana, I got a job at Tata African Holdings as a sales executive and resigned after ten (10) months to join Dangote cement. I was a logistic officer on a shift schedule, so I had time to do other things. I have done a lot of travelling and having a party on my days off. So, the journey started with this exposure, a friend had a camera, and I always wanted to be behind the camera to take pictures of everything, thanks to Bernard for teaching us how to use his camera (canon 7d).
A few months later, I went to a Friends Traditional Wedding; that’s how I met Kwesi who mentored me as a professional photographer. I had many questions when I first saw him because he was well-dressed and young, and I had this silly idea that only older men or women pursued photography as a profession. In any case, Kwesi sent me a photo he took of me, and I told him right away that I wanted to learn photography. He asked why I wanted to learn photography and if I had a camera. I don’t recall giving him a sincere answer because I think I wasn’t taking it seriously. Kwesi invited me to assist him at a wedding a few months later, and I borrowed a friend’s camera to take some pictures as well. I was a little shy, to be honest, and it was very stressful, but the most important thing was that I had fun. I bought my first camera, a Canon 6d, after my on-the-job training. My career and journey as a photographer have gone through several learning curves, and I still strive for excellence in all my work. The picture above was shot and edited by me in lightroom with canon 7d and kit lens as my very first picture as a photographer.
